Distribution: Basins of large livers (Danube, Dniestr, South Bug and Dniepr) and small rivers or streams in the surroundings of Odessa. In the Danube delta C. splendens var. ancilla occurs with androchrome and ginochrome females.
Habitat: Most (partially) open running waters (Dijkstra, 2006).
Flight period in the SW Ukraine: Middle of May – End of August
